About me
I have lived in Toronto for over 40 years. I attended architecture school at the University of Manitoba before enrolling at Ryerson (now called Toronto Metropolitan University) where I studied Film & Photography...
I worked as a Casting Administrator at Nelvana/CORUS Entertainment while also pursuing my career as an independent filmmaker: the Director, Producer and Writer for Paradark Films Inc.

Tumour to stroke
It was discovered that I had a benign brain tumour. I endured 18 hours of surgery and the tumour was removed, but I suffered a stroke during the procedure. It left the right side of my body paralyzed and the vision in my left eye was severely compromised. My speech, writing and reading were also badly affected.
In 2008, I became a stroke survivor, determined to pursue my creativity under any circumstances.

Pulse and impulse
To feed my creative impulse, I started to walk the streets of Toronto, camera in one hand. I used my cane and took the bus, streetcar and subway to explore and photograph all parts of my city.
At night I experienced such vivid dreams. They were like a fantasy movie playing in my brain; they were so real. The stroke had transformed my creative spirit. See more by being curious, scrolling and clicking all over Paradark!

New meaning to life
The stroke has presented me with a paradoxical meaning of life. I am a stroke survivor whose body is slowly healing but my mind has been transformed - able to create these dreams that are so beautiful and mysterious. In and around photography, I found expressions of the poetry of Life!
